讲座内容:

Abstract:  In aerospace, nondestructive testing (NDT) is an essential activity in order to verify the structures behavior during stress or loading cycles. Also NDT is used for diagnosis and find defects which can be dangerous for the integrity of the structure during its life-cycle.

Among many NDT techniques, those based on optics and laser are contactless and usually based on imaging systems. This allows faster inspection compared to traditional methods based on point measurements with lengthy scanning.

In this lecture, we will give an overview of various methods and techniques developed at the Space Center of Liege since 25 years, with the aim of measuring the mechanical behavior of satellite structures under load, as well as detecting defects in aerospace composite structures.

In particular,we will discuss methods like analog and digital holographic interferometry, speckle and speckle shearing interferometry, thermography, terahertz imaging.

主讲人简介

Dr. Marc Georges

Head of Laser and Nondestructive Testing Laboratory of the Space Center of Liege in Belgium.

Position

Researcher at the Centre Spatial de Liège (CSL) of the Université de Liège (Belgium) since 1990, where he developed holographic instruments based on photorefractive crystals for metrology, vibration analysis and defects detection in the frame of his PhD thesis obtained in 1998. Since then he led various projects on holographic metrology for industry and aerospace applications. Since 2006 he is head of the “Laser and Nondestructive Testing laboratory” of the CSL.

Current research interests

· Metrology of aerospace structures by holography (digital and analog with photorefractive crystals)

· Development of infrared digital holographic interferometry

· Terahertz imaging and digital holography

· Nondestructive testing of aerospace composites with optical and laser techniques including shearography, thermography and laser ultrasonics

· Post-processing of interferometry images

· Space qualification of holographic and non linear optics components
